1.

Jet aircraft are believed to be expensive to maintain and operate. How do the operating costs of the Phoenix FanJet compare to other types of aircraft?

The Phoenix FanJet compares very well. Until the recent development of low-thrust, high-bypass fanjet engines, costs were higher. Now however, all new airliners and business jets are equipped with turbofans because of their low maintenance costs, fuel efficiency and quiet operation. Williams-Rolls has pioneered development of an engine that extends those benefits to the General Aviation field. As a result, the Direct Operating Costs of a Phoenix FanJet are comparable to those of a high-performance piston single or twin, at about US$200/hour. And between 48 and 55 per cent of those costs are for fuel. Despite the similar costs, though, there's a huge increase in performance and reliability over the other aircraft.
